Google-owned video streaming platform YouTube is soon going to test a new sleep feature. This feature is for premium subscribers. This new feature aims to improve the user experience and solve a common problem, which includes falling asleep while watching videos. This experimental feature allows users to automatically pause video playback after a fixed time, which is perfect for those who like to fall asleep by listening to podcasts, audiobooks, or cooling music. Meaning if you fall asleep while watching or listening to YouTube, YouTube will stop working automatically.

This feature is already present on these platforms
While this feature may seem very simple, its absence has been a noticeable thing for many users. Platforms like Spotify have offered sleep timers for some time, and even TikTok has experimented with similar functionality. YouTube is late to this party but it is finally bringing this feature to its paid subscribers.

You can set a timer for a fixed time
To access the sleep timer, premium subscribers can sign up, open YouTube on a mobile device or desktop, and go to the settings menu while playing a video. Once enabled, users can select from timer durations ranging from 10 to 60 minutes, or choose to pause playback at the end of the video.
