On hearing the name of thyroid, it seems that it is a serious health problem, but is it so? Do you know that the thyroid is not a disease, rather it is a gland present in our neck that releases essential hormones that play a very important role in the body. From metabolism to many other functions of the body, it is required to continue in a better way. So now the question arises that when it is so essential for the body then why is it called a disorder?

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that is located towards the front of the neck. The thyroid is not a problem as long as the hormonal release from it is normal. This problem arises when the secretion of hormones becomes too low or too high. Thyroid disorders are increasing in people due to many reasons. To make people aware of this, World Thyroid Day is celebrated every year on 25 May.

Know about thyroid disorder
Thyroid disorders are conditions that affect the thyroid gland, causing problems with the hormones it secretes. When the production of thyroid hormone starts decreasing from the thyroid gland, then it is called hypothyroidism, while if its production starts exceeding the requirement, then it is called the problem of hyperthyroidism.

In these situations, when your thyroid doesn't work properly, it can affect your whole body.

What are the symptoms of thyroid disorder?
The symptoms of thyroid disorder depend on whether you have hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism.
People with hypothyroidism may have problems such as fatigue, increased sensitivity to cold, weight gain, puffy face, and muscle weakness.
On the other hand, people who have problems with hyperthyroidism often have problems like anxiety, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, hair loss, and hand tremors.

Why do thyroid disorders happen?
Thyroid problems can have many causes such as iodine deficiency or autoimmune disease, in which the immune system attacks the thyroid gland. Apart from this, the condition of thyroiditis which causes inflammation in the thyroid gland is also considered as a cause. Thyroiditis can also reduce the amount of hormones produced by your thyroid.
