Affordable food options
Indian Railways is launching a new food scheme, under which passengers will be able to enjoy food in the train for just ₹ 20 to ₹ 50. A variety of dishes will be offered under this initiative, including North Indian favorite dishes like Pav Bhaji and Puri-Sabzi as well as South Indian dishes like Masala Dosa.
₹ 20 Meal: It includes basic food items.
₹50 meal: This includes a larger quantity of food up to 350 grams, including options like rajma-chawal, khichdi, chole-bhature, chole rice, masala dosa and pav bhaji.
Coverage and convenience
The scheme will initially be launched on a trial basis at 64 railway stations across the country for a period of six months. After the trial phase, it is expected to be rolled out at other stations as well.
Along with this positive change, there is an important update regarding train ticket reservations: If you fail to occupy your reserved seat within 10 minutes of the train's departure, your ticket may be cancelled. The ticket examiner (TTE) will not wait, and the seat will be re-allocated to another passenger.
