Every day we hear news that Instagram and Facebook are collecting data of their users and sharing it with third parties. Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, has often faced criticism for tracking user activity on the Internet.

This can cause trouble for the user because if you browse anything, its advertisement appears on your social media. However, Meta has introduced a tool called 'Activity Off-Meta Technologies', which gives users more control over their data privacy.

How does the feature work?
This feature helps you at many points. It lets you see the information sent to Meta by the apps and websites you interact with, including visits or shopping.

Apart from this, it helps prevent different apps from sharing your activity data with Meta.

With this feature, you can delete the data already collected about your off-meta activity.

You can limit future tracking with its help. You can also opt out of future data sharing between the app/website and Meta.

How to stop tracking on Instagram
First, open the Instagram app and tap on your profile picture in the bottom right corner.

Now tap on the 3 lines in the top right corner and select the 'Settings and Privacy' option.

After this, go to 'Activity' and then go to 'Activity of Meta Technologies'.

Toggle on 'Disconnect Future Activity' to stop tracking on other apps and websites.

To manage past activity, from the 'Activity of Meta Technologies' page, tap on 'Your Information and Permissions' and then tap on 'Your Activity of Meta Technologies'.

Here you can view recent activity, disconnect specific apps, clear old data, and manage future activity sharing.

Limit tracking on Facebook
First, go to your Facebook profile and click on the three dots in the top right corner.

Now go to 'Settings and Privacy' and select the 'Settings' option.

Then click on 'Your Facebook Information' in the left column and then click on 'Off-Facebook Activity'.

Now select 'Manage your off-Facebook activity' and then click on 'Manage future activity'.

Toggle the 'Future off-Facebook activity' option to prevent tracking on other apps and websites.

By taking these steps, you can regain control over your data and limit the amount of information Meta collects about your online activity.
