The Indian central government offers various schemes to support economically weaker sections of the country, aiming to improve their standard of living. One such initiative, aligned with the National Food Security Act, is the free ration distribution scheme, which provides subsidized food grains to those in need. To access these benefits, citizens must have a valid ration card and complete the eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) process. Here’s how you can complete your eKYC from the comfort of your home:

Mandatory eKYC Requirement:
The government has made eKYC mandatory for all ration cardholders. Failure to complete this process could lead to the suspension or cancellation of your ration card and the benefits linked to it.

New eKYC Process:
Previously, ration cardholders had to visit the local ration shop in their home state to complete eKYC using Aadhaar biometric verification. However, if you’re residing in a state different from your home state, you no longer need to return. You can now visit any government ration shop in your current state of residence and complete the eKYC using Aadhaar biometric verification.

Updating Family Information:
The eKYC process also helps update outdated family details. It is required that all family members listed on the ration card complete the eKYC process.
