Pitru Paksha 2023 Panchbali: Pitru Paksha is starting from 29 September 2023. According to religious beliefs, during Pitru Paksha, our dead ancestors come to live with us on earth are pleased with our good deeds, and give us auspicious blessings. Buying any new item is considered prohibited for 15 days of Pitru Paksha. This is because these sixteen days of Shraddha have been dedicated to mourning and honoring the ancestors. Celebrating during this time is an insult to them. During Pitru Paksha, five different parts of the food are made which are known as Panchbali. Why this is done, we will know from Bhopal resident astrologer and Vastu consultant Pandit Hitendra Kumar Sharma.

Pitru Paksha 2023 when till when
According to the Hindu calendar, Pitru Paksha is starting on 29 September 2023. Which will end on 14 October 2023. The tradition of offering Pind Daan, Shraddha, and Tarpan to ancestors during Pitru Paksha is very old. This is the time when ancestors come to meet us through animals and birds and go away happy and blessing us. Eating animals and birds during this period is considered very auspicious.

Ongoing tradition
According to religious beliefs, whatever Shraddha food is prepared during Pitru Paksha, some portion is taken out for animals and birds. Without doing this, Shraddha is not considered complete. This process is called Panchabali. Pandit Hitendra Kumar Sharma is telling which are the creatures from which these five parts of food are extracted.

Method of offering Panchabali in Pitru Paksha
16 The food prepared during Shraddha is offered as oblation by burning a pot. In this process, the food is taken out in five different parts. Which is for ants, dogs, cows, crows and gods. This portion is given to the crow by placing it on the ground. There is a tradition of giving this portion by placing ant, dogs, cows and gods on a leaf. After doing this, with folded hands, a prayer is made to the ancestors to accept this food, so that our ancestors may be pleased and bestow their blessings on us.

Related to five elements
Five elements are taken out from the food prepared at the time of Shraddha, that is, the Panchabali offered is considered to be related to the five elements. Ant is considered a symbol of the fire element, the dog is considered a symbol of the water element, cow is considered a symbol of the earth element, the crow is considered a symbol of air element and gods are considered symbols of sky element. This is the reason why gratitude to these five is expressed by taking out Panchabali from the food.
