According to EPFO data, the rejection rate of PF final settlement claims has increased rapidly in the last 5 years. Due to this many times in case of emergency, if you need money from your own funds, you are not able to get it on time. Actually, the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is a pension scheme run by the Government of India. EPFO members have to deposit a fixed amount every month from their salary in the Employees' Pension Fund (EPF) account. In return, a fixed amount is deposited in every account by your employer. If needed, you can withdraw funds from it at any time by mentioning the necessary reason (EPF Withdrawal Rules). But there are many such cases when due to some reason the claim is being rejected by EPFO. After all, what could be the reason for this?

Why are claims rejected?
If the information given along with the claim does not match the information in the EPF database, the claim may be rejected. Therefore, it is important to cross-check and ensure that every detail provided by you while filing the claim matches the information available in the EPFO records. Usually, there is some mismatch in name, date of joining and leaving the organization, bank account of the EPF account holder, incomplete KYC records, and incomplete bank details and age or date of birth. How to avoid rejection...

Do not leave KYC incomplete
The biggest reason for the rejection of the EPF claim is submitting the wrong KYC document. If your KYC details are incomplete, EPFO may reject your withdrawal claim. Therefore, keep your KYC in order before claiming.

Is there any name mismatch?
If mismatched data is found anywhere in your name then the claim may be rejected. There may be a discrepancy somewhere in the name given in the EPF records. It is possible that the names given in your PAN bank or EPFO may be mismatched. Therefore, first, register the same name everywhere.

One more thing that should be kept in mind is that if you have got your PAN and name corrected in the bank, then do not include the old check while making the claim. Your old name will be there in the old cheque. Therefore, get a new check issued according to the new name.

Is there some mismatch in the date of birth?
There may also be a mismatch in the date of birth, in such a case the claim may be rejected. Therefore, one will be required to correct the date of birth either in the EPFO records or in the Aadhaar records, so that the date of birth matches in both the documents.

Link UAN to Aadhaar
If your Aadhaar is not linked to UAN then your claim will be rejected by EPFO. In such a situation, you should link your UAN with Aadhaar.

combined bank account
If you have given a combined bank account, which is with a person who is not your spouse, then the EPF claim may be rejected. EPFO will deposit the claim money either in the individual bank account or in the combined bank account maintained with the spouse.

Correct details of bank account
If there is any mistake in the bank account details, please check the bank account number, IFSC code, bank name, and bank branch details.
