Nag Panchami 2024: Why is a pair of Naag-Nagin kept in the foundation of a new house?
Nag Panchami 2024: Naag-Nagin is worshipped on Nag Panchami but do you know why silver Naag-Nagin is kept in the foundation of the house while building a house, know the importance.
While building a house, many people definitely follow the rules of Vastu. So that happiness remains, there is no lack of happiness and prosperity. There is no crisis. There is also importance of keeping the idol of Naag-Nagin before the construction of the house.
It is described in the fifth Skanda of Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran that there is Patal Lok under the earth and the lord of Patal Lok is Sheshnag. Therefore, during Bhoomi Pujan, silver Naag-Nagin is kept, so that Shesh Nag always protects the property and the house. Nag is also considered to be the protector of wealth.
It is said that if a silver snake is placed in the foundation of the house, it signifies change because just like a snake sheds its skin and takes on a new form, similarly if your house is being built at a place where a house was present earlier, then a pair of snakes helps in forgetting old memories and getting out of there.
In the 29th verse of the 10th chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat, Lord Krishna has said - Anantaschasmi Naganaam i.e. - I am Sheshnag among the snakes. This is the reason why a pair of silver snakes is placed in the foundation of the house so that God resides in the house and negative powers can never enter.
Silver is considered a symbol of purity. It is said that keeping a silver snake in the foundation of the house helps in maintaining peace and purity in the house.
According to Vastu Shastra, a pair of snakes also gets rid of Vastu defects. Negativity of the house goes away.
