Mosquito Coil: Do not use coil to drive away mosquitoes, risk of dangerous disease

Mosquito Coil Risk: As soon as summer comes, the terror of mosquitoes also increases. No matter how much we try to avoid them, but these cuts make our life difficult. To avoid them we use coil. We are saved from mosquitoes by using them, but it is very dangerous for our health. Dr Sandeep Nair, Senior Director in the Respiratory Department at BLK Max Superspeciality Hospital, says that using mosquito-repellent coils can even lead to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

According to the World Health Organization, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the third leading cause of death worldwide. In the year 2019, 3.23 million people died due to this. Not only this, about 90 per cent of COPD deaths among people under the age of 70 years occur in low- and middle-income countries.

What are the symptoms of this disease
Shortness of breath
persistent cough
feeling tired

What is the risk of COPD?
Dr Sandeep Nair says that in most cases COPD occurs in people who smoke. But women in rural areas are also suffering from this disease. According to Dr. Nair, the women in the village cook food on the chulha and the smoke from the chulha causes this dangerous lung disease. However, Dr Nair says that the coil that drives away mosquitoes is also a major reason for this disease. Even more interesting thing is that anything which is smoking in your room can be the cause of this disease. Due to COPD, dangerous diseases like lung cancer, and lung infection can occur.

Coil most dangerous
Dr Nair says that the coil used in rooms to drive away mosquitoes is very dangerous. They say that it is almost as dangerous as 100 cigarettes. Dr Nair advises people not to apply coils. He says that instead of using it, it would be better to use a mosquito net to drive away mosquitoes. According to the WHO report, COPD cannot be cured completely but it can be kept under control through some treatment. (PC. Social media)
