Kamakhya Devi Temple: Kamakhya Devi Temple dedicated to Mother Kamakhya is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths. Many such interesting incidents happen in this temple which leave a person in awe. There is no idol in this temple. A yoni-kund is situated here in place of the idol. Which is covered with flowers. The specialty of this kund is that water always comes out of this kund.
The temple remains closed for these three days
The doors of the temple remain closed between June 22 and June 25, during which the water of the Brahmaputra River remains red. It is believed that these days Mata Sati lives in Rajaswala. Men are not allowed to enter the temple for these 3 days. At the same time, on June 26, the temple is opened for the devotees in the morning, after which the devotees can visit the mother. Devotees get unique prasad here. Due to the menstruation of Goddess Sati for three days, a white cloth is kept in the court of Mata. After three days the color of the cloth turns red, then it is given as Prasad to the devotees.
What is mythology
A Yagya was organized by Daksha, the father of Mata Sati, which intentionally did not invite Lord Shiva. On the other hand, Sati stubbornly went to participate in the Yagya even after Shankar ji stopped her. And he had sacrificed his life by jumping into the sacrificial fire.
When Lord Shankar came to know this, his third eye opened with anger. After that Lord Shankar took out the dead body of Sati from Yagyakund and lifted it on his shoulder and started roaming here and there in sorrow. Meanwhile, Lord Vishnu cut the body of Sati with the Chakra. Wherever the pieces of the body of Mata Sati fell, all those places are called 51 Shaktipeeths. Mata Sati's vaginal part had fallen at this place in Assam.
What is Recognition
It is a popular belief in this temple that all the devotees who come from outside and visit thrice in their life, get freedom from worldly bondage. This temple is also known as Tantra Vidya. This is the reason that when the doors of the temple are opened, sages and tantriks also reach from far and wide to have a darshan.
