Ingredients to make Dal
Lentils (any) – 1 cup
Onion finely chopped - 1
Tomato finely chopped - 1
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Green chili chopped - 1
Green coriander chopped - 2 tbsp
Oil – 1 tbsp
salt - as per taste
water - as needed

How to make dal
To make dal, first, clean it thoroughly and then wash it 2-3 times with water. After this leave the lentils soaked in water for at least half an hour. After half an hour, drain the water of the lentils. By soaking in water, the dal swells well and its properties increase further. Now put the dal in the pressure cooker and put water according to the quantity of dal and cook it on the gas. Keep in mind that the lid of the cooker should not be put on while cooking the dal. Cook the dal on an open flame only.

The dal has to be cooked till it starts boiling. After 5-7 minutes, the dal will start boiling and white foam will start forming on top of the water. With the help of a ladle or a big spoon, remove the white foam deposited in the water and separate it from the water. This foam can be very harmful to the body. This increases the risk of increasing uric acid.

After removing the white foam, cook the dal well till it becomes soft. After this, put oil in a pan, put finely chopped onions and tomatoes in it, and fry while stirring on a low flame. Add finely chopped green chilies, asafoetida, and green coriander to it, and then add the cooked lentils and fry them. Cook it for 2-3 minutes and then turn off the gas. Dal full of taste and nutrition is ready. It can be served with roti paratha or rice.
