Causes and risk factors
Lung cancer is caused primarily by the uncontrolled growth of cells within the lungs. Smoking is considered to be the main cause, which increases the risk substantially in long-term smokers.

Smoking is the major risk factor for lung cancer, other factors such as secondhand smoke and environmental pollution also increase the risk. Additionally, certain genetic factors and pre-existing lung conditions may predispose individuals to this disease.
Identifying symptoms
Early-stage lung cancer often has no obvious symptoms, making it challenging to detect until the disease has advanced. However, specific symptoms such as a persistent cough, chest pain, hoarseness, and unexplained weight loss may indicate a more advanced stage of the disease.
