Lalbaghcha Raja means king of Lalbagh. There is a special story behind its beginning. The textile workers there suffered huge losses during industrialization in the 1930s when they sought refuge in Ganapati. He was later given a piece of land. People considered it as Bappa's blessing and from then onwards they dedicated a part of that land to Ganpati Puja. The Kambli family has taken the responsibility of making the statue of Lalbaugcha Raja. From 1934 till today, these families have made and maintained the idol of Ganapati of Lalbagh. He has also got the design patent of this idol of Ganapati.

Lalbaugcha Raja Pulatabai is in motion. Every year Ganeshotsav begins with the first glimpse of Lalbaugcha Raja. The first darshan of the idol of Ganapati took place on 15th September this year. This year's theme of Lalbaugcha Raja is based on the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Lalbaugcha Raja is also called Navasach Ganapati. It is said so because it is believed that all the wishes are fulfilled here. This is the reason why people come here from far and wide to have the darshan of Ganapati. Another special thing about Lalbaugcha Raja is that the longest immersion program in the entire country takes place here. On the tenth day, immersion starts at 10 a.m. and continues till the next day.
