When is Sarva Pitru Amavasya?
According to the Vedic calendar, this year the date of Ashwin Krishna Amavasya is going to start at 09.50 pm on Friday, 13th October, and will end at 11.24 pm on Saturday, 14th October. If seen on the basis of Udayatithi, this year Sarva Pitru Amavasya is on Saturday, 14th October. This is also Shani Amavasya.

What is the timing of Shraddha on Sarva Pitru Amavasya 2023?
On October 14, on the day of Sarva Pitru Amavasya, the time of Shraddha of ancestors starts from 11.44 am in the morning and will continue till 03.35 pm. This includes all three Kutup Muhurta, Rohin Muhurta, and Aparahan Kaal. On Sarva Pitru Amavasya, Kutup Muhurta will be 46 minutes, Rohin Muhurta will be 46 minutes and afternoon time will be 02 hours 18 minutes.

What is the significance of Sarva Pitru Amavasya?
Among the 16 dates of Pitru Paksha, Sarva Pitru Amavasya has special significance because on this day you can perform Shraddha, Tarpan, etc. of all the ancestors. If you do not know about your ancestors and whose date of death is not known, then on the day of Sarva Pitru Amavasya, you can perform Tarpan, Pind Daan, Brahmin feast, Panchbali Karma, Shraddha, etc. for them. In this, the Shraddha of parents can also be performed. However, on the Navami Shraddha date, the Shraddha of all the parents is performed.
