EPF Update: The surname or date of birth is wrong in the EPF account, know here the way to correct it...

Private company employees contribute to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) to get pension benefits after retirement. When an employee retires, he also gets the benefit of a pension along with a lump sum amount from the EPF Fund.

Many employees face difficulty in withdrawing money from EPF funds. This problem arises when any information in the EPF account is incorrect.

In such a situation, you should also check once whether any information in your PF account is wrong. If surname, date of birth, or any other information is incorrect then you can correct it in both online and offline mode.

The employee first applies to correct the details and then this application is approved by the employer. After this, the EPFO officer verifies the corrections/changes made in the request and updates the account.

How to request

Step 1: You have to go to the official portal of EPFO and log in to your EPF account with the help of UAN and password.

Step 2: Now on the home page, you have to go to the Manage option and select “Modify Basic Details”.

Step 3: After this, you have to fill in the correct information that is present in your Aadhar Card. Let us tell you that the system will verify it with Aadhaar data.

Step 4: After filling in all the information, click on “Update Details”. After this, this request will go to the employer i.e. company. After the company approves the request, these details will be updated after verification.

How to apply offline?

To correct the details present in the EPF account, you will have to fill out the related form, get it approved by the company, and send it to the EPFO office. After this, the EPFO officer will verify the form and update the account.
