Dussehra 2023: The festival of Dussehra i.e. Vijayadashami is being celebrated with enthusiasm at many places, while at other places mourning is celebrated today. There are some places in India where the effigy of Ravana is not burnt. There is a story and reason behind every place. Let us know about these places and the reasons behind them.

Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh
It is believed that the Mandsaur is the birthplace of Ravana's wife Mandodari. Therefore, the residents here consider Ravana as their son-in-law, and the death of their son-in-law is not celebrated. Therefore, Ravana Dahan is not performed here, rather Ravana's death is mourned on the day of Dussehra. There is also a 35-foot-high statue of Ravana here.

Bisrakh, Uttar Pradesh
There is a belief with this village located in Uttar Pradesh that Ravana was born here. For this reason, the people here consider Ravana as their ancestor and pray for the peace of his soul on the day of Dussehra. Ravana's father was sage Vishrava and his mother was a demon Kaikesi. It is also believed that Ravana's father Rishi Vishrava had established a Shivalinga here, in his honor this place was named Bisarakh after him and the residents here consider Ravana as a Maha Brahmin.

Kangra, Uttarakhand
There is a belief among the people here that in Kangra, Lankapati had done hard penance of Lord Shiva and got blessings by pleasing him. Therefore, the people here consider Ravana to be the biggest devotee of Mahadev and respect him. That is why Ravana Dahan is not done here.

Mandore, Rajasthan
People here believe that this place was the capital of Mandodari's father and Ravana married Mandodari at this place. That's why the people here consider Ravana as their son-in-law and respect him. That is why the effigy of Ravana is not burnt here on Vijayadashami.

Gadchiroli, Maharashtra
People of the Gond tribe live in this place, and consider themselves descendants of Ravana. They worship Ravana and according to them, only in the Ramayana written by Tulsidas, Ravana has been shown bad, which is wrong. Therefore, the effigy of Ravana is not burnt at this place also.
