Every year Diwali is celebrated on the Amavasya date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. This year this festival of lights is on 12th November. The house and shop must be cleaned in the morning on the day of Diwali. After this, worship should be done. The importance of performing puja at home, especially during the Pradosh period, has been mentioned in the scriptures. On this day, worship of Lord Ganesha, Mata Lakshmi, and Kuber Dev in homes during the Pradosh period has special significance. In this festival, only puja material is purchased, but there are some things too, the purchase of which is considered very auspicious.

Krishna Paksha Amavasya date of Kartik month is on Sunday 12 November 2023 i.e. Diwali will be celebrated on this day. On this day, puja starts in the morning in establishments, whereas in homes, puja should be done only after Pradosh Kaal. Buying these items on the day of Diwali is considered very auspicious.

1. For worship on the day of Diwali, one should purchase sandalwood, kumkum, vermilion, abir, coconut, rice, gulal, honey, kava, roli, cloves, cardamom, and incense.

2. Buying gold and silver on Diwali is considered very auspicious. Doing this brings happiness and prosperity to the house.

3. Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, and Kuber Dev are worshiped on the day of Diwali. Buying an idol or picture of Lord Ganesha and Mother Mahalakshmi on the day of Diwali is considered auspicious. Mother Lakshmi is pleased by doing this on this day.

4. Some people buy sweets for home before Diwali but it is not considered appropriate to do so. In the scriptures, it is considered auspicious to buy sweets and food items on the day of Diwali. By doing this, Goddess Lakshmi is pleased and happiness and prosperity come to the house.
