What actually happened is that now you can also lock the Aadhar card. That is, if your Aadhar card is lost somewhere, then it will remain only a minor card. Apart from this, if it is locked then you can unlock it yourself. What is this locking process?

The lock can be done in this way:
To lock, you will first have to go to the UIDAI website. After logging in there, you will have to give your card details. OTP will come on your mobile number. After verifying the OTP, the options of lock and unlock will open in front of you. If you want to lock then click on the lock option and submit. OTP will come again for verification, after entering the OTP your card will be locked.

Talking about the unlock process, it can be done only by visiting the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. You will have to go to the Aadhar Seva Kendra and show your documents there. If everything is found fine then your Aadhaar will be started again.
