This fort was built during the time of the Maratha Empire. It is said that this fort was first built by Maharaja Warangal in the 14th century. Later, Rani Rudrama Devi and her father Prataparudra fortified the fort and rebuilt it. This fort is built at an altitude of 480 feet above sea level.

Regarding the construction of this fort, it is said that a shepherd boy found an idol on the hill. When the then ruler Kakatiya got information about this, he considered it a holy place and got a fort made of mud around it. Which is now called Golconda Fort. There are eight gates in this fort. Fateh Darwaza is the main gate of the fort. You can still see the grandeur of this beautiful fort. There is a mysterious tunnel in this fort. Which leads to the outer part of the palace. It is said that the royal family used this tunnel at the time of crisis. However, due to the ruins of the fort at present, this tunnel is not visible.
