What is Aadhaar Paperless Offline e-KYC?
UIDAI provides an online electronic KYC service to verify the identity of Aadhaar number holders. The e-KYC service significantly reduces the cost of paper-based verification and KYC. With the help of this facility, there is instant identity verification. However, this online e-KYC facility is not available for all agencies.

Why is the facility not for everyone?
-Reliable connectivity is essential for online e-KYC.

-The agency should have the technical infrastructure to access the online e-KYC services and deploy the equipment.

-Online e-KYC requires biometrics. What are the benefits of Aadhaar Paperless Offline e-KYC

Privacy
-A citizen can directly share KYC data without the knowledge of UIDAI.

-Instead of the citizen's Aadhaar number, a reference ID is shared - no core biometrics (fingerprint or iris) are required for such verification.

-A citizen can choose which data to share.

Security
-The digital signature is issued by UIDAI to verify the authentication.

-The data is validated by the agency using its OTP/Face Authentication.
