Ingredients for Murukku
-Rice flour - 1 cup
-Urad dal - 3 tbsp
-White Sesame - 1 tsp
-Ajwain - 1/2 tsp
-Ghee - 2 tbsp
-Red chili powder - 1/4 tsp
-Asafoetida - 1 pinch
-Oil
-Salt - as per taste
How to make Murukku
- To make South Indian Snacks Murukku, first, put a wok on the gas to heat it on low flame. When the pan becomes hot, add urad dal and fry it till it becomes golden. After this, take out the lentils and put them in the mixer, and grind them. Now put ground urad dal in a mixing bowl, add red chili powder, asafoetida, carom seeds, rice flour, and ghee and mix it well.
- Now add some water and knead the dough and make thick balls of the dough and put it in the murukku mould. Now put oil in a pan and keep it to heat on medium flame. When the oil becomes hot, make murukku and pour it by rotating it with the help of a murukku mould. Now deep fry the murukku until they turn golden brown in color from both sides. After that take them out on a plate. Similarly prepare murukku with all the flour. After cooling, you can store them in an air-tight container. The taste of murukku will be wonderful with evening tea.
